Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
Your surgeon's protocol, followed to the letter — with objective proof you're hitting each milestone.
What it is
Surgery is half the outcome; rehab is the other half. Post-surgical physical therapy restores motion, strength, and confidence after orthopedic procedures while respecting the healing timelines of repaired tissue.
We coordinate directly with your surgeon's protocol, document progress objectively at every phase, and send milestone reports back to the surgical team — so your six-week follow-up contains no surprises.
Who it helps
- Knee and hip replacement
- ACL and other ligament reconstruction
- Rotator cuff and labral repair
- Spinal surgery (fusion, discectomy, laminectomy)
- Fracture fixation and tendon repairs
Anyone with a scheduled or recent orthopedic surgery. Starting promptly matters: the first weeks set the ceiling for motion, and delayed rehab is one of the most common reasons outcomes disappoint.
How we assess
We review your operative report and protocol, establish protected baselines (swelling, motion, quad or cuff activation), and map the phase criteria you must pass — because post-surgical progress is measured against criteria, not the calendar alone.
What treatment looks like
Phase-based progression: protect and restore motion, rebuild strength, then retrain function and — where relevant — sport. Visit frequency starts higher and tapers as you take over your own program.
Evidence & limitations
Structured post-operative rehabilitation is standard of care after major orthopedic surgery, with strong evidence for supervised programs after knee replacement and ACL reconstruction in particular. Limitations are real too: tissue healing sets a floor on timelines no clinic can shortcut, and we will never push loading faster than your protocol allows.
Questions, answered
How soon after surgery should I start?
Whatever your surgeon's protocol says — often within days for knee replacement, and at the surgeon-set start date for repairs that need protection. Pre-surgical evaluations also help: knowing your baseline makes your rehab targets concrete.
Can you talk to my surgeon?
Yes — that's built in. We send objective progress notes at each milestone and flag anything off-track early.
Does insurance cover post-surgical rehab?
Whatever covered the surgery generally covers the rehab — Medicare, commercial plans, auto no-fault, or workers' compensation. We verify your benefits and visit allowance before you start.
