Insurance questions, answered
Can I go to physical therapy in Michigan without a doctor's referral?
Yes — Michigan's direct access law allows treatment without a physician referral, limited to 10 visits or 21 days unless a prescription is obtained (prevention and wellness services are exempt from that limit). Many insurance plans still require a referral for payment, so our front desk verifies your plan's rules and obtains the referral for you when one is needed.
How many physical therapy visits does insurance cover per year?
It depends on the payer. Medicare has no hard cap (documentation requirements increase past an annual dollar threshold we manage for you). Most commercial plans cover a set number of visits per benefit year — commonly 20 to 60. Michigan auto no-fault has no visit cap for accident-related care. We tell you your exact number before treatment starts.
What does a physical therapy visit cost without insurance?
We publish flat self-pay rates at the front desk before you book — no surprise billing. Wellness and recovery services are priced like a gym, not a hospital.
Do you bill my car insurance directly after an accident?
Yes. Accident-related care bills directly to your no-fault (PIP) carrier under the Michigan fee schedule. You will not be asked to front the cost of covered care.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Photo ID, your insurance card (or claim number for auto/work injuries), any referral or surgical protocol you have, and comfortable clothes. Intake forms arrive by text and can be finished from your phone.
