Headaches & Neck-Related Migraines Treatment in Sterling Heights, MI
Many 'tension headaches' start in the neck — and respond to treating it.
How we treat headaches & neck-related migraines
Cervicogenic headaches — pain generated by the upper neck's joints and muscles — masquerade as tension headaches and migraines. The tell: one-sided pain that starts at the skull base, triggered by posture or neck movement. Manual therapy to the upper cervical joints plus deep-neck strengthening has strong evidence here, and it's one of the most satisfying things we treat.

Common questions
How do I know if my headaches are coming from my neck?
Pattern and provocation: neck-triggered, one-sided, skull-base origin, reproducible with specific neck movements. Our evaluation tests exactly that — and when it reproduces your headache, we've found something treatable.
Can physical therapy help migraines?
PT doesn't replace migraine medical care, but when a cervical component contributes — common after whiplash — treating the neck reduces frequency and intensity for many patients. We coordinate with your physician rather than replacing them.
How many visits until headaches improve?
Cervicogenic patterns often respond within 4–6 visits; we re-measure headache frequency at every stage and refer onward if the pattern says we're not the answer.
